Finally, the increasing number of studies of the role of adiponectin in liver diseases (mainly in the absence of liver surgery) reported in the last 10 years, suggests that this adipocytokine could form the basis of useful strategies for the treatment of NAFLD/NASH and its progression as well as in the clinical practice of liver resections and transplantation.
