CERK and cancer: Increased activity of enzymes catalysing pro-malignant sphingolipids formation reactions, such as glutamate-cysteine ligase (GCL) (Li et al. 2014), spermine synthase (SMS) (Massaro et al.,2017), sphingosine kinase (SphK) (Hatoum et al.,2017) and ceramide kinase (CERK) (Payne et al.,2014) results in the apoptosis escape and cancer progression.
