In line with our study, the positive effects of acupuncture in the MS-like model have also been demonstrated in other animal models of MS: in the classic experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) model, electroacupuncture could modulate T cell response and modulate Th1/Th2/Th17/Treg subsets by increasing ACTH secretion in the thalamus; in an ethidium bromide-induced demyelinating model, electroacupuncture intervention decreased disease severity and increased the production and differentiation of OPCs, facilitating remyelination [41, 42].
