The results showed that SJS/TEN did not develop in any of the CBZ-treated patients without HLA-B*15:02, indicating that the HLA-B*15:02-pretreatment screening could effectively prevent SCAR in comparison with the estimated historical incidence of carbamazepine-induced SJS-TEN (Chen et al., 2011) (Table 1). Here, HLA-B is linked to Schwartz-Jampel syndrome.
