Our RNA-Seq results showed an upregulation of the rare AD-associated genetic factors ABCA7 and TREM2 [57, 58], an upregulation of lipoprotein lipase (LPL), known to be involved in AD susceptibility and pathogenesis [59, 60], and downregulation of CX3CL1, which has known roles in neuroprotection and neurotoxicity in the context of AD [61–64]. This evidence concerns the gene TREM2 and Alzheimer disease.
