Previous studies have examined genetic predictors of cognitive decline primarily in individuals in a preclinical stage of Alzheimer’s disease, defined from the occurrence of brain atrophy or abnormal CSF biomarkers of Alzheimer’s disease, and found significant effects of APOE ɛ435 and polygenic scores weighted on association to Alzheimer’s disease35,36, on episodic memory37. This evidence concerns the gene APOE and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
