Overexpression of CENP-A has been identified in ~20 different cancer types, including liver, pancreatic, endometrial, breast, ovarian, colorectal, gastric, CNS and lung cancers and is considered a prognostic biomarker of metastatic ability, advanced disease state, poor outcome, and likelihood of relapse ([148,149,150,151,152,153] and Human Protein Atlas).
