Since miR-29b and miR-29c are known to be downregulated in GC [77,78], it is possible that the overexpression of COL1A2 observed in gastric tumor tissue is maintained in part by the disturbance in circHIPK3/miR-29b-c/COL1A2 axis, leading to gastric cancer progression.
