IL1B and colorectal carcinoma: With the understanding that SFB colonization often wanes to undetectable levels over time [25–27], and that the previously reported CRC-predictive spike in pro-inflammatory host mRNAs such as IL-1β occurs as early as one week post-Helicobacter spp.-inoculation [2], presence of SFB was confirmed through fecal PCR screening at critical early timepoints from four to five weeks of age following Helicobacter spp.-inoculation to assess early events in the development of CAC.
