ALB and Hyperkalemia: A combination of albumin and terlipressin was shown to be of benefit in 58.3 % patients with HRS-AKI in a setting in Lahore, Pakistan.121 Lower serum creatinine at the time of diagnosis of HRS-AKI, absence of hyperkalemia and absence of portal vein thrombosis were seen to predict a better response to therapy.121 Terlipressin and albumin have been shown to improve short term survival only.119,120,122 Terlipressin is contraindicated in patients with ischemic heart disease.
