AR and Familial prostate cancer: In contrast, among AR-regulated genes in 22Rv1 cells, the number of genes upregulated in prostate cancer tissues (8.4%) was lower (P = 0.001 by chi-square test) than that in LNCaP/VCaP (13.8%) (Fig. 2b), while the number of genes upregulated in CRPC tissues was relatively high (4.5%) (Fig. 2b, c) compared to LNCaP/VCaP (0.3%), and they were specifically regulated by AR in 22Rv1 cells (Supplementary Fig. 2d), suggesting the remarkable heterogeneity in the expression of AR-target genes during prostate cancer progression to CRPC.
