Given the protective action of ACE2 in ALI (Imai et al., 2008; Imai et al., 2005; Kuba et al., 2005; Kuba et al., 2006) and the negative correlation between ACE2 expression and SARS‐CoV‐2 severe outcomes (J. Chen, Jiang, et al., 2020), NSAIDs may help reduce COVID‐19 disease severity due to SARS‐CoV‐2 infection if they can up‐regulate and down‐regulate ACE2 and TMPRSS2 in the lung, respectively. Here, ACE2 is linked to acute respiratory distress syndrome.
