PTGES and infection: Infection with a wide range of viruses, for example, herpes simplex virus, rotavirus, and influenza A virus (IAV), induces expression of COX‐2 and mPGES‐1, resulting in overproduction of PGE2, which in turn plays a role in viral infection directly by modulating viral binding, replication, and gene expression and/or indirectly by regulating the host immune responses (see Sander, O'Neill, & Pohl, 2017).
