The numbers of transient amplifying Ascl1+/Tomato+ progenitor cells, both as single cells and clustered, were significantly increased in the stroke side (56 ± 26 vs. 16 ± 7 single cells/section; p = 0.022; 64 ± 40 vs. 21 ± 19 clustered cells/section; mean ± SD; p = 0.023). This evidence concerns the gene ASCL1 and stroke disorder.
