Overexpression of MUC6 glycoprotein domains significantly inhibited tumor cell adhesion to matrix proteins in LS180 cells (not found in PANC-1 cells), and the N- and C-terminal domains of MUC6 inhibited invasion of both LS180 and PANC-1 cells, suggesting that the MUC6 gene may prevent tumor cells migrations through the basement membrane of the pancreatic duct and suppress the development of infiltrating carcinoma (Leir and Harris, 2011). This evidence concerns the gene MUC6 and neoplasm.
