In the nonmucinous type of colon cancer, decreased MUC2 expression was found, and expression was found to be suppressed by the transcriptional factor caudal type homeobox 2 (CDX2), which may have been caused by the high methylation modification of the promoter of the MUC2 gene (Hanski et al., 1997). Here, CDX2 is linked to colonic neoplasm.
