Dissection of melanoma and colorectal and lung cancers has highlighted that a significant fraction of TILs can contain antiviral CD8+ T cells [such as Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)- and cytomegalovirus (CMV)-specific], extending observations that many tumor infiltrates may be in fact not tumor-specific (30–32).
