Importantly, we found that MAPK, AKT1, and mTOR showed cumulative expression changes through time (Figure 2(d,e), Figure S2); moreover, they were co-expressed (adjusted p<0.05) with several other genes/proteins, including the most central ones in each community (Figure 2(d,e), Figure S2), further highlighting the importance of these genes/proteins in coordinating the global response to infection.
