Studies conducted by Yie S.M et al. reported the presence of survivin positive circulating cancer cells (CCCs) in peripheral blood samples of about 50% of patients with breast, gastric, lung, colorectal and esophageal squamous cell carcinomas, along with their association with various clinicopathological parameters like degree of tumor infiltration, nodal status and disease stages.
