MYH9 was recently found to be localized on the cell surface, and acts as a functional entry receptor for herpes simplex virus-1 34, but it is also localized in the nucleus where it can regulate post-transcriptional p53 stabilization in squamous cell carcinomas 19 or bind to long non-coding RNA to regulate activity of a bidirectional promoter in thyroid cancer cells 35. Here, TP53 is linked to thyroid gland carcinoma.
