CRP and hemolytic-uremic syndrome: In our study, at hospital admission STEC-HUS patients with neurologic involvement showed significantly higher leukocyte count (22.7 ± 8.0 vs. 14.6 ± 5.0 × 103/μl, p < 0.001), C-reactive protein (53.2 ± 17.8 vs. 22.3 ± 4.4 mg/dL, p = 0.021), hemoglobin (8.7 ± 1.5 vs. 8.0 ± 1.0 g/dL, p = 0.023), and lower Sodium serum levels (131.1 ± 6.0 vs. 135.4 ± 4.6 mEq/L, p = 0.002), as compare with those without neurologic involvement (Table 2).
