FN1 and myocardial infarction: The remodeling phase associated with myocardial infarction is characterized by an increase in fibronectin and collagen deposition, which ultimately leads to fibrosis (Frangogiannis, 2017) and to an increase in myocardial stiffness (Berry et al., 2006), and it is also associated with a differential expression of α1, α3, and α5 integrins in both acute and chronic stages of myocardial infarction (Nawata et al., 1999).
