CD19-directed CAR NK cells have been generated from cord blood; these cells, which also incorporate the IL-15 gene (to support NK cell survival and proliferation) and a so-called suicide gene (inducible caspase-9, to induce the selective elimination of transduced cells in case of excessive toxicity), have proven to be very effective in preclinical NHL and CLL models (156). Here, CD19 is linked to B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
