To examine the role of DRG RNA m6A modification in neuropathic pain, we first analyzed the expression of methyltransferases and associated proteins, demethylases, and the m6A‐binding proteins in the DRG after the fifth lumbar (L5) spinal nerve ligation (SNL) in rats, a preclinical animal model that mimics nerve trauma‐induced neuropathic pain in clinical cases.[30] Unilateral SNL increased the expression of Fto mRNA and FTO protein in a time‐dependent manner (Figure 1a,b), but not METTL3, METTL14, WTAP, and YTHDF2 (Figure 1c), in the ipsilateral L5 DRG.
