Co-localization of phosphorylated p38 (P38-P) with phospho-tau in a subpopulation of neurons and grains, suggesting the active participation of the kinase in tau phosphorylation, is observed as well in AGD (Ferrer et al., 2003, 2008) and in mice inoculated with AGD sarkosyl-insoluble fractions. This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and argyrophilic grain disease.
