Some of them were previously described as candidate biomarkers for diabetic nephropathy including alpha-1-acid glycoprotein, alpha-1-antitrypsin, collagen fragment, transferrin, uromodulin and albumin (a well-known biomarker) (Cohen-Bucay et al., 2012[8]; Currie and Delles, 2016[9]; Jin et al., 2012[23]). This evidence concerns the gene TF and diabetic kidney disease.
