In this context, although the amide-triazole-linked dimers showed less promising IC50 values, and thus they might seem to be less effective in killing cancer cells, these agents, especially compounds 16 and 21, were found to be more efficient in overcoming the resistance of the LoVo/DX sub-line, characterized by the ABCB1 overexpression, than the corresponding ester-triazole-linked dimers, but also the respective unmodified ionophore (i.e., SAL and MON). Here, ABCB1 is linked to cancer.
