miR-298 has been shown to modulate neurite growth and beta-amyloid precursor protein-converting enzyme 1 involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) [56,57,58], which raises a question about the specific role of miR-298 in islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP) aggregation in β-cell during T2DM development. Here, IAPP is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
