CD40LG and infection: In summary, considering the three type of diagnostic tests used in this study, clinical, parasitological, and immunological (ELISA-IgG/IgM and DTH), it seems clear that, depending on the individual’s immune response, that is, resistance or susceptibility, the infection can evolve to an asymptomatic resistance profile, as did most cases of the infection diagnosed here (75.5%; 320/424) without clinical signs of either NUCL or AVL, or to a symptomatic one, showing clinical signs of NUCL (24.5%; 104/424).
