Recently, it has been found that the complex role of p53 in fine-tuning cancer cell survival and death is also reflected by its activity in maintaining metabolic health and disturbing cancer-favouring metabolism [13,14] by orchestrating the biosynthesis or homeostasis of glucose [15,16], cholesterol and nonsterol isoprenoids [17], cardiolipin [18], polyamine [19], α-ketoglutarate [20], and essential amino acids [21,22].
