Detection of TERT expression in the tissue, by immunohistochemistry (if reliable antibodies are available) and/or fluorescence in situ hybridization [52], as a complementary analysis would allow the pathologist to distinguish the expression in tumour cells from the lymphocytic infiltration, and increase the possible use of TERT expression in the prediction/diagnosis of thyroid disease.
