A prospective cohort study analyzing the risk of endometrial cancer after RRSO in 1083 BRCA carriers showed no significant increase of endometrial cancer overall, but a higher than expected risk of serous endometrial carcinoma in BRCA1 mutation carriers (however, only 4 cases were described in 453 BRCA1 carriers after a median follow-up of 5.1 years), while the risk for endometrioid endometrial cancer or uterine sarcoma was not increased in this study [20]. The gene discussed is BRCA1; the disease is endometrial cancer.
