During the curse of induced progressive demyelination, there is a positive regulation of Klk6 in the brain and the spinal cord, predominantly expressed by immune cells at sites of active demyelination in multiple sclerosis lesions (Yoon and Scarisbrick, 2016), demonstrating its contribution to inflammation, demyelination, and progressive axon degeneration (Panos et al., 2014).
