Masliah et al. [10] examining genome-wide DNA methylation patterns in the frontal cortex and blood from PD patients, found similar patterns of hypomethylation in brain and blood, and reported that MAPT, the gene encoding tau, a protein associated with several neurodegenerative diseases, including PD, contained one of their most biologically significant DML. The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is neurodegenerative disease.
