The property of cholesterol-enriched diets in the induction of breast cancer tumor growth was lost in the mice lacking the CYP27A1 enzyme, and that statin or a CYP27A1 inhibitor also attenuated the effects of a high-fat diet on the growth of E0771 tumors in transgenic human APOE3 replacement mice, further confirming that 27HC links cholesterol metabolism and breast cancer [23].
