AD is very common in the elderly, who frequently have associated comorbidities (cardiovascular disorders, diabetes mellitus) and use polymedication (antihypertensives, acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, antimuscarinic agents, antipsychotics, and antidepressants), which is likely to interfere with autonomic function (detailed in Table 1).
