Since the present study demonstrates that MK2 is responsible for phosphorylation of SRC-3 at S857 in a wide variety of cell lines, including triple negative breast cancer cells (MDA MB 231 cells), the results indicate that the p38MAPK-MK2-SRC-3 signaling axis could be a relevant therapeutic target in treatment of breast cancer. The gene discussed is NCOA3; the disease is triple-negative breast carcinoma.
