Overall, neither IDH1/2-mutations nor other chromosomal alterations showed the potential for being a discriminatory marker for distinct subtypes of diffuse astrocytomas in our own tumor cohort due to the low and variable IDH-mutational frequency and the heterogeneous cytogenetic profiles observed in GBM36 and other subtypes of diffuse astrocytomas, in line also with previous findings by others37. Here, IDH1 is linked to diffuse astrocytoma.
