Previously, we demonstrated that the K14Rac1V12 mouse model displayed increased levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines and when crossed in an atherosclerosis mouse model the atherosclerotic plaques showed increased presence of CC.[30] In the present study, aortas of K14-Rac1V12−/+ mice on chow diet were examined using PLM to detected birefringent signal, representative for CC. The gene discussed is KRT14; the disease is atherosclerosis.
