Based on studies with transgenic and knock‐out mouse models, the pathway downstream from insulin‐like growth factors, consisting of PI3K and Akt is indispensable in both physiological cardiac hypertrophy and developmental growth (Cho, Thorvaldsen, Chu, Feng, & Birnbaum, 2001; DeBosch & Muslin, 2008; DeBosch et al., 2006; McMullen et al., 2003; Shioi et al., 2000; Shiojima et al., 2002). Here, INS is linked to cardiac hypertrophy.
