In addition to being an early stage marker in COAD, we believe that FABP6 may also behave as a therapeutic target because: 1) it is known that each of the nine types of FABP proteins shows tissue specificity, with FABP6 being the ileum, thus generating specificity in future treatment; and 2) the expression of FABP6 in tumour tissue is due to an increase in secondary bile acids, and it is known that the action of these bile acids triggers cellular apoptosis [44]. The gene discussed is FABP6; the disease is colon adenocarcinoma.
