Third, using biochemical, histopathologic and molecular approaches, we also showed that administration of AAV2/9-Endo-Glo1 to rats one week after the onset of T1DM attenuated cardiac microvascular leakage, fibrosis, inflammation/oxidative stress, formation of MG-HI adduct on Ca2+ cycling and mitochondrial proteins, and reductions in activities of γ-glutamylcysteine ligase and glutathione reductase and GSH levels. Here, GSR is linked to type 1 diabetes mellitus.
