To determine if MCPyV-positive MCC samples harbour increased p38 MAPK signalling, we initially analysed published data (GSE29587) which utilised the potent p38 MAPK-inhibitor, SB203580, to characterise the differential gene expression changes that occur due to inactivation of p38α and p38β signalling. The gene discussed is MAPK11; the disease is Merkel cell skin cancer.
