Deficiency of ACE2, being the enzyme involved in the modulation of the renin angiotensin aldosterone system (RAAS), is linked with a rise in angiotensin II (Ang II), leading to widely known deleterious effects such as hypertension, vascular leakage, hypertrophy, fibrosis, and, consequently, increased severity of infection [9,15]. Here, ACE2 is linked to hypertensive disorder.
