The current standard of care for metastatic CRC involves testing tumour tissues for three biomarkers: expanded RAS mutations (which are a negative predictor of benefit from anti-EGFR antibodies); BRAFV600E (which is a negative prognostic marker and a positive predictive marker for BRAFV600E-targeted therapies) and MSI status (which has prognostic and predictive value regarding responsiveness to immune-checkpoint inhibitors in addition to being a screening tool for Lynch syndrome)89. Here, EGFR is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
