EGFR and hepatocellular carcinoma: A phase II trial that combined bevacizumab (VEGFR inhibitor) and erlotinib (EGFR inhibitor) was also designed to compare the effect as first-line treatment for advanced HCC patients to sorafenib alone, and the results showed that there was no difference in efficacy between the bevacizumab + erlotinib group and sorafenib alone, while bevacizumab + erlotinib showed a better safety and tolerability [194].
