Galectin-3 (Gal-3), a member of β-galactoside-binding lectins, is a chimeric glycoprotein encoded by a single gene, LGALS3, in humans, and plays multiple roles in cancer initiation, adhesion, progression, metastasis, angiogenesis, and adaptation in tumor microenvironments [4,5,6,7]. This evidence concerns the gene LGALS3 and neoplasm.
