Although several studies were identifying novel serum biomarkers, involving insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 2 (IGFBP-2) [76], heat shock protein 60 (HSP60), and chitinase-3-like protein 1 (CHI3L1) [77], to be strongly correlated with metastasis of CRC, their poor selectivity and sensitivity have rendered the tests unsuccessful due to the high rates of false positives and false negatives. The gene discussed is HSPD1; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
