Since interferon type I receptor-deficient (Ifnar1−/−) mice are susceptible to ZIKV infection and disease [23], we initially crossed female Ifnar1−/− mice to Ifnar1−/− or wild-type (WT) males, and subcutaneously infected them with cDNA clone-derived ZIKV (rPRV, an infectious clone of Puerto Rico strain PRVABC59 (24), 104 PFU) on E6.5-E8.5, E9.5-E10.5, or E13.5–15.5 (Fig 1A). The gene discussed is IFNAR1; the disease is Zika virus infectious disease.
