By using the reproductively senescent mice in an in vivo MCAO model and an in vitro OGD model, our study shows that Gen attenuated the inflammatory response after ischemia by inhibiting the NLRP3 inflammasome in microglia within the acute phase of postmenopausal stroke, suggesting that Gen could be a promising neuroprotective agent for postmenopausal stroke. The gene discussed is NLRP3; the disease is stroke disorder.
