In this regard, HLA‐A*26 has previously been identified as a predisposing type to infection with visceral leishmaniasis (kala‐azar; Singh, Agrawal, & Rastogi, 1997) and has been associated with the development of Epstein–Barr virus‐driven post‐transplant lymphoproliferative disorder in solid organ transplantation (Reshef et al., 2011).
