ICAM3 gene, which showed specific expression and histone marks in blood/immune tissues, had significant GWAS peaks for both allergic disease in human and metritis in cattle (Fig. 6e), consistent with the indispensable role of ICAM3 in immune response and its association with lymphocyte, monocyte, neutrophil percentage, and rheumatoid arthritis in the UK Biobank [61] (region PheWAS, set region ± 50 kb; P value threshold 1e−8). The gene discussed is ICAM3; the disease is allergic disease.
